Computer Classes for Seniors
We are pleased to offer weekly Basic Computer Classes for Seniors, designed to help participants build confidence and stay connected in today’s digital world. Classes are held every Thursday at the Theatre in the basement of Swan.
Class Details: From 26th March. 2026
When: Every Thursday (Classes will continue for 8 weeks)
Time: 4:00–5:00 PM
Where: Swan Evergreen Village - 2365 Eversyde Ave S.W.
Laptops will be provided by CECA, making it easy for everyone to participate.
Please note: if the building requires the Theatre space during these times, classes may be relocated to one of the bistros within the facility.

Bingo & Seniors Hobnob
Our monthly Bingo & Seniors Hobnob continues to run every 3rd Tuesday of the month from 2:00–3:00 PM.
This program was previously facilitated by Holly; however, due to inconsistent attendance, we paused advertising. If you would like this program to continue and grow, regular participation is encouraged and greatly appreciated.
We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming programs and supporting continued learning, connection, and community engagement.

Q&A with the Seniors Director
Our Seniors Director has 14 years experience working with seniors and has been working hard to provide engaging programming for our Evergreen seniors. Learn about these efforts here and see more specifics about the current programming below and on the events listing!
What does the Seniors Programming for CECA involve?
Seniors Programming for CECA started in 2018 where we started a partnership with Swan Evergreen Village by Origin. Swan has provided space for seniors from the community to meet up and have a tea/coffee conversation with some of Swan's residents - this is the "Seniors Hobnob". Once a month at 6:00 pm for an hour, seniors would meet and get a chance to share their stories with each other. This is also a chance learn cultures from around the world. At some point, it opened the opportunity for seniors from the community to join the Swan residents in their activities like the spelling bee. It was fun seeing seniors enjoying each other's company! The Seniors Hobnob is now scheduled every last Wednesday of the month. Swan has been generous in providing the space and refreshments.
A few workshops were also provided at Swan where seniors from the community joined their residents in attending educational presentations like Elder Abuse and Fraud prevention in collaboration with the Calgary Catholic Immigration Society.
For 2 years now, CECA got a six-week grant from the City of Calgary to host a Seniors Zumba at Swan Evergreen.
In 2019, CECA started its partnership with Revera Evergreen. Some Tuesday nights, seniors from the community would join their residents in playing Bingo. An educational workshop was also held in Revera. Last October, seniors from the community were invited to their regular Octoberfest where they danced and enjoyed some refreshments with beer.
Who can join the events?
Seniors 55+ living in Evergreen and in the surrounding communities can join CECA's events for seniors.
What kind of volunteer effort do you need?
Some of the seniors cannot drive and so it would be helpful if we have volunteers who can drive them to and from the venue of the activities. Please reach out to me at [email protected] if you can help with this!
What's next?
We are planning for the seniors' multicultural fashion show with entertainment sometime in April 2020. This will be the second time that we are doing this fashion show at Swan Evergreen in collaboration with the seniors of Calgary Catholic Immigration Society. In 2018, we had about 35 seniors from various countries who joined the fashion show. We are hoping we can make it bigger this year!

Seniors Hobnob
Seniors 55+ from Evergreen and surrounding communities, come and join our senior group and have fun! This is a casual meet and greet to get to know other local seniors and get engaged with the community. See some photos from the first Seniors Hobnob below!

Seniors Zumba
In partnership with the City of Calgary, we occasionally offer Seniors Zumba classes, a Latin dance inspired fitness program. Easy to follow steps coincide with a celebration of Latin and world music with superior cardio, toning, and F-U-N in just one class!
